Aids Awareness - Does it reach everywhere??

December 1st, 2014:  Every year December 1 is observed as World AIDS Day. This day is not to spread AIDS. Since 1987, this day is designated to spread awareness of AIDS which is caused by HIV infection.

Do these awareness reach the people?? Yes and No, both answers will be there. I appreciate all the awareness which reaches the people in right way as expected. But what we concentrate is on the answer "NO" because, an awareness program should reach, if it does not reach the people, it means awareness is a failure.

I am going to share some of the incidents what I have observed during WORLD AIDS DAY. All the medias, schools and other organisations keep programs on AIDS awareness program and celebrate it in a massive way. Do these programs are done with the true intention of awareness or is this is done for publicity? Most of these functions are done for their own publicity.

Consider a school. During the assembly, as part of doing something as a program, some dramas or skit is done related to AIDS. Red ribbons, or AIDS awareness ribbons are distributed to some, and not to all. I would like to share 2 questions raised by the students seeing the AIDS awareness ribbon pinned on teacher's dress. 1st question was, " Why some teachers are wearing the red ribbons?, Are they AIDS?" The student was asked " Do you know what AIDS is?". " No" The student understood the AIDS as a group or organisation, like blue cross or red cross, where only members pin this ribbon.

2nd question by another student was, " Why all the teachers are wearing AIDS symbol?"
The first thing which was understood was that the student not even knows that the red ribbon is the symbol of AIDS awareness. But he knows what is AIDS. He has knowledge of AIDS, just one line. It spreads during sex.

I am not complaining the students. I strongly raise my voice through this blog against the society & the system through which the student is brought up. In class 9 & 10, The subject biology tells more about reproduction and less about AIDS & HIV. Students knew more than what is taught in class about reproduction. But they don't know nothing about AIDS. The classes must be more detailed for the students and also should concentrate on the AIDS & its awareness.

Next question is with the present government of India. Education Ministry of central government compelled or insisted schools to observe Swatch Bharath on Oct 2nd , Unity day on Oct 31st for Sardar Patel & Children's day celebrations on Nov 14 - Nov 19. Even though the students does not know much about the intention of the program, students participated with good spirit. But why AIDS awareness is not compelled to practice in schools? The celebrations done were for the personalities of the past. But these awareness is strongly required for the personalities of tomorrow.

Just complaining and suggesting through this blog will not complete my duties and responsibilities.
Here I share a link which will give you a basic idea about AIDS & how can you protect from AIDS.
